Now I see what the problem is.

Anyone who looks at this as working for free or taking a pay cut is the problem. You are out of work because of this virus. Hopefully you were made whole or close to whole. The D's took it further and some were made more than whole. Now if they call you back to your job and you refuse because you feel you are working for free or paying them to work you are not lazy. You are a lazy SCUMBAG!!!
:o wow, you sound like those Republican scoundrels  ;D

Those are the ones I feel bad for.
If my two kids who are making a little bit more than working told me they weren't going to go back to work they would be kicked out of the house.

It's true that some will choose (unlawfully) not to go back to work due to the UI raise, but I'm referring to a different issue.
I heard from an employer who can push himself to make payroll now (outside of those 8 weeks), but he feels like he's doing his employees a favor by letting them go. I don't know how many there are like him, but the phenomena exists.

Have to keep everyone guessing.  ;)
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

I have no problem with that. Hopefully the employees do the right thing when/if he is able to take them back.

I think from an economic perspective it does pose an issue. If enough businesses do this, reopening on a real level gets pushed out due to lack of motivation.

For some it is not a little bit

$600/weekly is crazy. $100 to $200 can be explained away, and a prorated addition to your UI rate would have been the best of all.

Take a look at this:

They should have just added to the UI rate to reach 100%

Lets remember those that are getting more than 100% are most likely those who need it the most.

I am happy for them to get it but don't call them lazy if they prefer not to be working when they can better support their families by staying home.

I've spoken to restaurant owners in ORD who can't find employees because of the unemployment payments. It's a problem.

Or inversely, people now don't need to risk their lives to pay their bills thanks to the unemployment payments. Which is precisely the point - get as many people to stay home as possible.

Employees of many businesses are facing a pay cut for returning to work, as UI with the extra $600 is more than many people make at work. Are you saying someone is lazy if they don’t work for free, or even take a pay cut to do so? They’re essentially paying to do work.

Exactly. I have heard some people who are looking at this as a unique opportunity to take an exam/get a designation.

Honestly not sure why taking advantage of this is that different than corporations taking advantage of greedy unfair legal loopholes, like 1031s and share buybacks. The latter is more according to the letter of the law, while the former can actually benefit society. The big difference is the corporations have lobbyist groups pushing these agendas into actual laws.

Need a source for this because in my family then can't wait to get back to work.
Experience as an employer and discussions with other employers. I know of so many who the only reason they are not finding a way onto unemployment is because if they do they won't have a job at the end.

Every one of my employees had not missed a paycheck other than a temp who was taking over for someone on maternity who returned. They are all working remotely with the whole family home being home schooled. I can hear in some of their voices that they wish they could just go onto unemployment. I treat them well so they treat me well and are not saying anything to me about it but I sense it. They feel they are losing 2400 a month.

Hurts how? You mean no money for them after the massive PPP?
What about businesses which were forced to close and the conditions of ppp simply don't help enough.
