Are you still practicing social distancing?

Misled by politicians who said that the lockdown was to flatten the curve, so hospitals shouldn't get overloaded etc.. and give no timeframe for lifting the lockdowns. 
People are fed up with the gov't telling them what to do and keeping them locked up for political considerations without any regard for peoples livelihood and sanity.
When the governor says in his press conference this is the way it is whether you like it or not people are going to get fed up.

It seems a lot of people are confusing social distancing and the lockdown. Why should people disobey social distancing practices which are necessary to prevent the spread because they are upset at politicians? I understand people are saying they’ll equate the 2 but people need to use their own brains to see they’re not one and the same.

There is no reason why testing and isolating cannot be in place already.  Are we a third world nation? There seems to be no will to get things moving. That is what people are upset about. I am not talking about covidiots here.

Testing is in place, anybody in our community in NJ can get tested easily. Isolating, we need contact tracing for, but that’s something that may never fly in America

Most people see the lockdown as overkill at this point. Social distancing is still pretty inconvenient, though most people gladly abide by it when they understand it well enough (which unfortunately isn't the case by many). Also lots of rationalization going on.

Once the rationalization started due to a lockdown gone overboard it needs used for other things too.

People take it as one and the same. Once they disregard the lockdown, they’ll also chill out on the distancing.

Conversly, if the lockdown is ended with specific instructions for SDing, people may be more likely to follow them.

I was answering the question who were people misled by. I was not advocating ignoring social distancing.

That being said being that the quasi scientific guidelines are being promoted by the same politicians it's not surprising that some take them equally with a weary eye.

I thought this is how all our political leaders communicate, from the top down.

The frustration is mounting, every day more and more people are saying "screw this whole corona thing and just keep old people locked up". The fact that Murphy had no plans on opening up and only started talking seriously about it (albeit at a very slow and dragged out pace) once the real political pushback started is very telling.

The continued lockdown will go down in history as one of the biggest political blunders. All Trump needs to do is go full on board with the anti lockdown and he'll will every state.

Define lockdown? The exact rules that NJ has put in place till now? Probably not, but I’m not a doctor. I don’t think it’ll stay the same for too much longer anyway.

Well polls in NJ are still showing 60% are comfortable with the handling of the lockdown. I wonder how they phrased the question. I’m also willing to bet it’s mostly those who are unionized public employees or those getting an extra $600 a week unemployment. Let’s see what the polls show when the extra $2400 a month stops coming in...

I get it. I get the frustration, and I agree - I wish the governments (fed/state) would be more competent. But SD at this point is common sense, not something that's government mandated.

In all seriousness when the mayor of LA said today that  he may extend the lockdown three more months, the reaction of everybody was pretty much, ' in that case I give up now'. People are done, emotionally, with the pause on life. I think social distancing will still go on to some extent outside of heimeshe communities

I think the answer lies in a lot of rationalization and a major lack of guidance from Rabbonim/Doctors regarding people who have had it/tested positive.

Individuals are getting permission to visit grandparents etc. which gives people the impression that Doctors are assuming there is some sort of immunity but then the official guidelines don't differentiate between antibodies and no antibodies so people are throwing the whole thing out.

If there were clear guidelines for those who have tested positive/antibodies/no symptoms/no antibodies with guidelines for each category, maybe people would follow them.

In short, everyone has a rationalization why they don't have to follow the guidelines.
