What I'm really really drowning in is apples! Anyone have some recipes that don't need peeling? Or maybe does someone own a horse?
I've been dehydrating apples. (and other fruit)
I use a silicon mesh dehydrator sheets spread on my oven racks.
Wash the apple.
Remove the core. (I have a 'corer'.)
Slice, not too thin. ( I slice across, each one has a hole.)
Lay in one layer on the sheet-covered oven racks. You can sprinkle with cinnamon. Or cinnamon and sugar, but it doesn't need it.180 -200 degree F depends on your oven. Also, some parts of the oven may be ready earlier.Keep the oven open a bit for the humidity to escape.
3-6 hours. Depending on temp, oven, thickness.
You want them slightly moist, especially if they're eaten within a few days of making them.
My dehydrator sheet are something like this. I can't find the exact ones I bought, but I fit 2 sheets on each oven shelf.
My corer is this type But check out this advancementBut maybe this type would be more efficient if you’re buying for this purpose.
