Chocolate Pudding

3/4 cups corn starch
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons cocoa
1 tablespoon Vanilla sugar
1/2 gallon milk (of your choice, preferred red)

mix all dry ingredients then add 1 cup cold milk (to dissolve the dust)
then pour in the rest and cook as above

Delicious just made it tonight!

Speaking of the Covid school lunches, anyone know if they will be distributing a shabbos box in Pine park Lakewood this week?

Yes, last week. Challah, gefilte fish, dips, sterns rugelach, pineapple, compot, coleslaw, turkey cold cuts. Was actually useful for a change

If it’s not useful, why do you still go? AFAIK they run out every day.

Thanks, I will try to get that if that’s the case. Is it on Thursday or Friday?

I get them for entertainments sake, keeps the kids guessing and we get to leave the house. Little value in the food content. Where as food in shabbos box had some value to me. Friday

We should all try both and take a poll :)

After cornstarch is cooked with liquid, it sets when it cools, and this can work equally well with different proportions of cornstarch and liquid.

The main difference here is in the cocoa:milk ratio.  Yesitsme uses 4T cocoa in 8 cups of milk, and would probably appeal to those who prefer milk chocolate.  It is also lower in cost.  Mine uses 5T cocoa in 2 cups of milk, which gives a more intensely chocolate flavor, and would appeal to those who like to eat bittersweet chocolate or chocolate bars made with 72% cocoa.

Forget the milk and apples, I'm inundated with cherry tomatoes which my (any) kids won't touch. So any recipe ideas which include milk apples and cherry tomatoes would be appreciated ;)

This doesn't help with the milk and apples, but I had a similar problem a few weeks ago with cherry tomatoes.  I saw they weren't going to last long, so I chopped them up, cooked them with other vegetables and tomato sauce, till they got good and soft, then made shakshouka out of it.

It's neater to mix in the milk bit by bit, stirring it into a slurry, and only then adding in the rest of the milk.
But sometimes I skip that step, and just dump the milk in all at once, because I believe that by starting the milk cooking right now, I will be able to eat my pudding that much sooner.   :) It will all slowly dissolve eventually, as the milk gets warmer and as I continue to stir it.  This is American cocoa, so I don't know if this would be true for Israeli or European cocoa.

I didn't read through the whole thread, but in case it wasn't posted yet, I've been making tomato Confit weekly!
We also kept getting cherry and grape tomatoes, this works with either.
There are different versions available (just Google) here is the method I used with great results.

Take a pan (for oven), put a layer of tomatoes to cover the whole bottom. (Choose pan size accordingly).
Take a few cloves garlic, smash them a bit and stick them in between some tomatoes. Add favorite herbs you have around, fresh is better, dried is fine- oregano, basil, thyme, rosemary etc...

Drizzle a lot of olive oil, I try to cover at least half way up the tomatoes (harder with bigger pans).
Sprinkle with salt (ideally kosher salt or Himalayan...)
I put in the oven at 225 for around 3 hours or so (other methods are higher heat for less time).

Optional- I've added a few rings of jalapeno for some heat.

You can use it fresh or refrigerate for weeks.
Some ideas:
Top cooked pasta with it and heat (awesome)
Top foccacia
Salad topper

My favorite is to blend it all on Friday (whatever is left) and it makes the best tomato dip!

Enjoy
