Salesforce Master thread
« on: May 17, 2020, 01:47:13 PM »
I don’t believe this thread exists yet and its an amazing software (CRM really). It has a phenomenal (free) course fo learn everything it does (called trailhead). I work with it at work all day. Anyone here familiar-got certification ? To begin with a question I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to use import wizard when one of the fields I want to create is an auto number ?
Any and all salesforce talk goes here👍

I have the admin certification, going for app builder hopefully by end of the month.
Don't believe you can get an auto-number for an import but saw this if it might help you

Set the field up as a text field first, import your data, then change the data type of the field to auto number. Start the auto number sequence at the next number you want and be sure to not backfill existing records. Your pre-existing values will stay in tact after converting the field type.

yep I saw that. The problem is I’m using a managed package so can’t change the field.

Focus on Force was a huge help after doing the trailhead trail mix.

Also developer/salesforce offers a free 30 question test that is very accurate to what sort of questions you’ll get. Google admin practice exam and choose the one from developer/salesforce.

Pro tip: refresh that exam and you’ll get new questions a couple times :)

A subscription platform (think you pay per user per month) for running your business’s customer data and tracking interactions/sales. Lots of modules can work out of the box, but because it’s a majorly established platform it can integrate with countless other systems, can be customized (e.g. dashboards and reports) in endless ways, and has APIs (is opened to developers) for further customization.

It’s not cheap (especially extensive development) and has its limitations/quirks (like any other system does), but is very robust.

and is not at all limited to sales per se. I know a big company that uses the platform for law firms to handle their cases etc.

I wonder if they have a HIPAA compliance component where I could use it for EHR and CRM

yes, you would need to sign a BAA with them
