What does that have to do with your wife and kids?
assuming that its very contagious, I would probably also have it if this is what they had
This is a common error that many people are making. People don’t realize that it is a game of odds. Not every interaction you have with someone who has it will make you catch it, some people seem to be more or less contagious in general, and people shed different amounts of virus at different times. It’s very possible to have some people in a household catch it and others not, I know of many such cases.
This is true of ALL infectious disease, you will never have every interaction result in transmission. Certainly your chances should be higher in the same household, but it’ll never be 100%. We don’t fully understand it, but as with everything, clearly things are not so black and white. This does NOT necessarily mean you can’t catch it from someone else who is contagious in the future or that the other household members could not have transmitted virus to others. It does NOT “prove natural immunity” or anything of the sort, despite what a Hatzalah member may have said.
For this you can use flu as an analogy. You may not catch the flu even if a household member has it, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come down with it at a future time.
