Don't worry, he isn't the one calling the shots. He doesn't even have to remember who is. He just needs to read what they put in the teleprompter and not go off the cuff.
I just watched the 60 Minutes interviews, where both Biden and Trump are speaking off the cuff.  Biden doesn't seem to have a problem giving reasonable answers to unplanned questions.  Also interesting to see how the show integrates some fact-checking of both candidates.

Can’t wait for Biden’s victory speech after he loses... I must say I’ll miss all of Biden’s gaffes after some time in November...

(you tube video above)

Biden says "I don't only need you to get me elected, I need you once I'm elected."
In his Scranton accent, he glides over the "only", like Philadelphians glide over their city name, calling it "Fluffya".

Trump headlines this with "Joe Biden says he doesn't need voters to get elected", priming the reader to ignore the "only".
This is amusing as an after-dinner game, but for a presidential campaign...?  This is all you got?

It is about hearing what you only want to hear. Not about what was actually said.
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

It obviously goes both ways. Why has politics come to this?

Because to many are drinking the kool-aid. These are the type of people you would never want a jury.

One word answer: TRUMP

I actually think it started with Obama and the left promising change, the pendulum swung to the opposite extreme with Trump, and now Biden/Harris and co. hope to swing it back left beyond where Obama took things.

ETA: I’m not suggesting this is Obama’s fault and/or that “he started this” in a finger-pointing kind of way, all I’m saying is that while Trump compounded things, it didn’t start (and won’t end) with him IMHO.

Yeah but the "politics" of creating dumb gaffes and picking on every missed word is purely Trump.

Philadelphians don't say fluffya. They say Philly. If they call it Philadelphia, that jawn fake.

He played that game with Obama/HRC? I honestly don’t remember that.

What I remember from 2016 is “crooked Hilary” “lock her up”, and promises to undo every accomplishment of the Obama administration.

It's one part of Trump's game, to poke fun at people's characteristics or to magnify a minor flaw.  Shorter than average men are called "Liddle Marco" and "Mini Mike", for example.

I’m aware, I don’t remember that much nitpicking words (or a missed word), pre-2016 elections.

Agreed.  Smushing words is a Biden characteristic, so Trump didn't need to attack it until Biden became the candidate.  But making fun of the person rather than debating the policies was always his MO.
