Looking for a Bike

My son wants to add a motor to a bike, but the motor doesn't fit on the bikes we have.


He's looking to buy one for up to $100.


The bike needs to be 26" and have a large area in the V part of the frame.
A men's cruiser would probably be the best.
A regular hand brake is preferred (not disc brakes or a back-pedal).


The cruiser below doesn't have hand brakes, but has a large area that the motor would fit into.

We need the frame to be good. Not for it to be in tip top order.  If necessary, he'd pay more.

He bought the engine on line.  Chinese.  Not high quality.  Under $300
New wheel and gears for the engine.  Old gears left for manual driving backup.

Correction:  It comes with gears for the new chain.  He added it to the existing wheel.

Motorized is not. Depending on state, CC or speed would determine what class motorized bike falls into.

You should talk to DMV soon otherwise it will be a lawyer.

   I heard otherwise from a guy who sells and makes these type of bikes.
 He had a whole bunch of reasons and explanations to why this is not a problem and why he considers it legal.

 I forgot this guy's name or number wrote it down somewhere and don't remember.
  I remember he had an Instagram handle but that wouldn't help me.

 Wouldn't mind getting ahold of his number or some other guy and having one of these bikes put together for me.
