Quote from: RavYisroelReisman
It is very crucial that people go with an Ayin Tov. Many of us are nervous. We have been in cabin fever for two months and we are not in our normal spirit of joy. I am so afraid that people are going to come to Shul and see someone else may be standing too close or with a mask that is not properly worn or without a mask. That such people are going to end up being involved in a Machlokes. Chas V’shalom, Machlokes is far more dangerous than any virus in the world. Machlokes between Yidden especially if people are going to have a Machlokes in Shul. Please, when we go back to Shul do it with an Ayin Tov. Bring Beracha to everyone around you. It should be with a great joy and a great Hatzlacha.

meanwhile:

Rabbi Reisman's shul is my shul the Rav was coordinating all the minyanim since Thursday between the main shul, ezras nashim, and simcha hall.
I've seen him at almost every minyan so far and everyone is keeping to all his guidelines. Everyone at every minyan was wearing a mask.
Rabbi Reisman is doing an amazing job!

An older gentleman came in to shul with a mask and generated quite a stir. The gabaim rushed to set him up in a spot in the ezras noshim. Haven’t seen a mask in shul in a while. Over 200 people jammed in shoulder to shoulder by the tables.

Went to GG Lakewood for the first time in a week or so and it looks like a few customers, mostly women have masks, but the majority of the men, even the older ones do not.

My local shul set up the Ezras Noshim for elderly/venerable officially. People schmooze with them through the doors Its their life nowadays otherwise they sit at home the whole day.

Sorry, didn't remember. I was wondering where the restrictions were still so adhered to, but Bergen County makes sense. The most cases in NJ, IIRC.

Shabbos shacharis and mincha in my backyard for the 3rd week.

Crowd has grown from 10 to 15 to 22.

100% mask compliance, even though today was the first day in the 80s.

So far we've avoided any threat of rain, BH.

More just the hashkafa here. Bergen County was one of, if not the absolute first community to close down, 2 days after Purim.

But to be fair, there were a number of confirmed cases there at that point, IIRC. Lakewood, for example, had zero confirmed cases until a few days after Purim.

We moved indoors for our final Shabbos minyan. I brought masks before Shabbos. The one person in our minyan that didn't have any symptoms (and is over 60) tried wearing it Friday night and davened in an adjacent room, but those masks (kn95) were so uncomfortable, that eventually he gave up. Shabbos day Davening and farbrengen in honor of Shabbos mevorchim and final block Shabbos minyan. Was quite spacious to allow for distancing, but no one really cared.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Baltimore moved inside after a Vaad HaRabonim meeting hours before Shabbos.

Limited to 50% of normal LEGAL capacity but in reality many Shuls had less per room as every 1 Minyan split into 3 or 4.
Anyone not mechuyiv to daven Btzibbur was not allowed to allow Mispalelim to spread out more. Also less, as guidelines were not to return if that would cause your neighbors to be stranded without a minyan due to poor timing.

Everyone wore masks but shuls followed the most recent CDC guidelines that germs dont spread from contact surfaces so no glove neccessary. Some shuls had L shaped  plexiglas around Oleh with gabayim standing further from bimah.

BH this was just in time as it poured over Shabbos.

Many shuls which had people eager to get back had installed Purell and mask dispensers, plexiglass, additional ventilation, weeks ago so they could be back in a proper Makom Hateffila at first opportunity!

If you're in this for the long haul why not get tents?
Many backyard Minyanim near me bought cheap tents (tailgating BBQ style 10×10 or 10×20 temp carports) - which also helped maintain distancing.

Later, when assigned minyan restrictions were lifted and max participants was raised from 14 to 25 and Shuls were allowed to hold outdoor minyanim many rented beautiful party tents (all roof only no walls) with plastic flooring.

Really enhances teffilah

I'm sure you can order a price mistake tent if necessary... Maybe create a new family birthday?  :)

I highly doubt this is long haul. Probably a couple more weeks I'd guess.

That's the way to go. What's so special on Monday that we have to wait until then?

(Need to work out with kohanim and Leviyim)

Minhag Chabad is not to change the length of each aliya (nor to add or subtract from 7 aliyas).
