Quote from: RavYisroelReisman
It is very crucial that people go with an Ayin Tov. Many of us are nervous. We have been in cabin fever for two months and we are not in our normal spirit of joy. I am so afraid that people are going to come to Shul and see someone else may be standing too close or with a mask that is not properly worn or without a mask. That such people are going to end up being involved in a Machlokes. Chas V’shalom, Machlokes is far more dangerous than any virus in the world. Machlokes between Yidden especially if people are going to have a Machlokes in Shul. Please, when we go back to Shul do it with an Ayin Tov. Bring Beracha to everyone around you. It should be with a great joy and a great Hatzlacha.

meanwhile:

Rabbi Reisman's shul is my shul the Rav was coordinating all the minyanim since Thursday between the main shul, ezras nashim, and simcha hall.
I've seen him at almost every minyan so far and everyone is keeping to all his guidelines. Everyone at every minyan was wearing a mask.
Rabbi Reisman is doing an amazing job!

not everything people do makes sense.... I see plenty of people wearing masks while driving their personal vehicles alone.

Yup and I've seen people wearing face shields like visors

Between the last 2 months and until a vaccine comes out there will be 0 difference health wise. So I hope you have enough masks
I don't get this argument at all. Because we will have to wear masks from now until a vaccine comes out, therefore we shouldn't wear masks? Can you explain that to me?

You need to live in Boro Park, Williamsburg or Crown Heights where herd immunity exists in order to understand.

So how does the comment makes sense when directed at someone from Bergen county?

And, as you agreed previously, herd immunity is only absolute if the herd is completely segregated from the non-immune herd. Are you suggesting that those 3 communities will remain isolated from non-immune communities until a vaccine is released?

I don't believe a single medical professional has stated that there's herd immunity. It's also undetermined how long antibodies last and how effective they are for people who were merely exposed but didn't have it.

There's also theories of a mutated strain going around.

I get relaxing some restrictions in places where many people had the virus, but I don't think going back to normal makes any sense at all.

Your disbelief doesn't change the fact that local medical professionals in Crown Heights do consider the community to have herd immunity. They do urge outsiders not to visit, but have said seniors no longer need to isolate.

That actually does make sense. It is best to avoid touching the mask too much. Especially if one is wearing an N95, it is much easier to just put it on inside the house, ensure a proper fit, and just leave it on. That's what I do.

Who said therfore you shouldn't wear masks. I'm just saying, if at this point your still doing it then nothing will change risk wise until there's a vaccine. Maybe people's mindset will change because people aren't getting sick. But from a medical standpoint 0 will change.

Though the latest Gedaliah Society update (34) is pretty concerning.

Some people speculated that it was a way to limit attendance, but I have no evidence that it was anything other than disregard for the mispalelim from the one gabbai who decided to do this (while he davened elsewhere).

I'm shocked @ExGingi ignored this post ::)
Your disbelief doesn't change the fact that local medical professionals in Crown Heights do consider the community to have herd immunity. They do urge outsiders not to visit, but have said seniors no longer need to isolate.
Do they believe outsiders won't visit? If outsiders do visit, then wouldn't seniors be at risk (don't take this to mean I think that seniors should isolate).

Agreed. So all you meant with
Between the last 2 months and until a vaccine comes out there will be 0 difference health wise. So I hope you have enough masks
was to point out that we should prepare to wear masks for awhile? And not that therefore people shouldn't wear masks?

Thanks for the link to Covid-compliant minyanim in Lakewood. I'd be interested in seeing such a list for Flatbush and other parts of Brooklyn. In Flatbush, the most strict shuls that I know of are YI of Midwood and YI of Avenue J. Kol Torah (Rabbi Geldwerth) is also pretty strict. Any others?
