Quote from: RavYisroelReisman
It is very crucial that people go with an Ayin Tov. Many of us are nervous. We have been in cabin fever for two months and we are not in our normal spirit of joy. I am so afraid that people are going to come to Shul and see someone else may be standing too close or with a mask that is not properly worn or without a mask. That such people are going to end up being involved in a Machlokes. Chas V’shalom, Machlokes is far more dangerous than any virus in the world. Machlokes between Yidden especially if people are going to have a Machlokes in Shul. Please, when we go back to Shul do it with an Ayin Tov. Bring Beracha to everyone around you. It should be with a great joy and a great Hatzlacha.

meanwhile:

Rabbi Reisman's shul is my shul the Rav was coordinating all the minyanim since Thursday between the main shul, ezras nashim, and simcha hall.
I've seen him at almost every minyan so far and everyone is keeping to all his guidelines. Everyone at every minyan was wearing a mask.
Rabbi Reisman is doing an amazing job!

Do I get credit for that?

Why would you get credit?

If I were them, I would auction the 10 men section and raffle the 10 women section. Or do 5 and 5 in each.

Good thing you're not "them" (take my word for it, you don't want to be "them" by any stretch of the imagination).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

IDK. But there are very unfortunate reasons as to why they are so strict.

I am presuming that he is referring to how CH was hit by the virus.

I think he meant because the police hang out there all day as enforcement is difficult there. CMIIW.

Walked in for the first time Shavuot morning at 8:45, minyan was 20 people in a large room, no one wearing masks. Sat by myself in the back with a mask. Came back for mincha, saw the room packed, not a mask in sight. Walked straight out and haven’t returned.

Yep, the riots have given the media what to focus on. The virus is like a small side story in the national headlines.

Very interesting to see the difference between people's behavior in shul vs someone's private property. Never had any issues with people not showing up (unless they checked beforehand and were told we'd be ok without them), or not keeping masks on, or not keeping SD in the 10 or so days we were in someone's backyard. But over shavuos in shul - despite having the same rules of pre-registering, masks, SD, and more - there were plenty of instances of these problems. Whether it was a guy who decide to reclaim his seat, despite it not being a designated SD spot, or people who were signed up but didn't come (or came to a different time minyan), it definitely seems like people have a different mentality in shul for whatever reason.

The question is if it's because they're in shul, or it's just changing with time.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Probably a confluence of the two.

People see returning to shul as a new phase, where restrictions can be further relaxed.

In anticipation of rain, I set up my neighbor's (open from two ends) garage with tables, benches and chairs, so we should be able to daven in a covered, well ventilated area while maintaining distancing. Since it didn't end up raining, most neighbors chose to stay on their own porches, with the exception of the two most distant participants (one being a newcomer to our minyan, due to this setup which enabled his participation).

I understand that everyone can make their own decisions, but I really don't understand those that chose to stay on their own respective properties, rather than join the minyan on one property which was set up to allow distancing. (Maybe I should have gloves and masks available for next Shabbos).
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
