Quote from: RavYisroelReisman
It is very crucial that people go with an Ayin Tov. Many of us are nervous. We have been in cabin fever for two months and we are not in our normal spirit of joy. I am so afraid that people are going to come to Shul and see someone else may be standing too close or with a mask that is not properly worn or without a mask. That such people are going to end up being involved in a Machlokes. Chas V’shalom, Machlokes is far more dangerous than any virus in the world. Machlokes between Yidden especially if people are going to have a Machlokes in Shul. Please, when we go back to Shul do it with an Ayin Tov. Bring Beracha to everyone around you. It should be with a great joy and a great Hatzlacha.

meanwhile:

Rabbi Reisman's shul is my shul the Rav was coordinating all the minyanim since Thursday between the main shul, ezras nashim, and simcha hall.
I've seen him at almost every minyan so far and everyone is keeping to all his guidelines. Everyone at every minyan was wearing a mask.
Rabbi Reisman is doing an amazing job!

Outdoor minyan I was going to during the week officially disbanded. Every shul in the neighborhood is packed to the gills.  >:(
My outdoor minyan in RBS is still going strong.
Interesting how it seems like in Israel we went into quarantine more quickly and are more conservative coming out of it.

Because no-one imagines that you have herd immunity there, unlike the Jewish communities in the NYC area that strongly believe that herd immunity is here now.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

There's a similar concept brought down from the Bal Shem Tov which is not surprising.

+1

There are 2 vorts from the Bal Shem Tov that I have in mind. One is Shoichet mishem ma mechayiv, mshim tzoiveah/tzaddikim nidmeh lahem khar. 2nd is how to tell if something is really a Mitzva by the Simcha afterwards.

Your Rav took achrayus on everyone's health?
What does that even mean?

Yup. I just don't get it. Even if your local shul has "herd immunity," that is meaningless of the broader community doesn't have it. Unless people think NY in general has herd immunity? Is that borne out in the antibody testing numbers?

Was 20 percent a month ago. Would be nice to know where it stands now. Likely around 30 percent

Is there any presumption that 30% is enough for herd immunity?

How about if local doctors and Hatzolah are estimating 70%?

Like I said in my previous post. Is that estimate for the Jewish community or the city at large. And if it's just for the Jewish community, does it mean anything?

I think he refers to NYC in general. But I agree with you about SD in shul and inner circles. I know many, including myself, wearing masks and keep to SD when leaving the herd, for various reasons.

Aren't we in the "how was your shul this week" thread?

Isn't the most current conversation here in response to your comment about RBS outdoor minyan and contrast of EY vs NYC area (minyanim)?
