This lawsuit is a positive for religious freedoms.

As an aside, you should probably make one master thread where you post all of your studies and suits instead of a new thread for each individual case.

The quick answer to anyone discussing 1A challenges to bans on gatherings is that there is a very easily defensible need for blanket bans on gatherings and that it is perfectly consistent with 1A to include religious gatherings in that ban. The only thing which makes it start getting confusing is if there are other gatherings allowed. Allowing people into stores and the like is not included in that.

What happened with Knopfler and the priests lawsuit?

Also what are the judges in the court this was filed with like? It seems liberal judges don't think that much of religious rights (just like liberal politicians)

I dont necessarily agree with his thinking but I have an interest in litigation. At times he does have some valid points, just as many people.

Even if some would say opening shuls isn't safe [for a different thread], is it for government to decide?

I think I've continously posted how governments action are  in many cases most likely illegal/unlawful, some have said I'm wrong,  I think time will tell.


I'm not a lawyer, but I do have personal  experience in litigation. The furthest I have personlly litigated is at the state superior court level.  I've done some pro se and some through hiring an attorney. I've been sued and have sued. I've won, lost, settled and appealed.

I can post it here as well, and hope to make a wiki, I didn't read knophlers  in full but from skimming through it  I dont think it was as well written and I'm not sure knopfler's attorney has the right experience, this needs further research.

Also, Knophler might not be the right candidate to be the plaintiff, that part of the lawsuit I did read.

Ron Coleman is an excellent well known lawyer who won a case in front of the Supreme Court. He’s very savvy and presumably picked his Court well.

I sent one of these lawsuits to a liberal lawyer I know. Didn’t even get a straight legal opinion other than their personal opinion that it’s a bad idea now.

There is a possibility it was politically motivated, I dont know the details, but there have been many outdoor  minyanim in LKWD that were allowed, yet an outdoor fire not. I dont know all the details but dont take police statements at face value. I dont want to go off topic but I wrote the wrote MIGHT due to other reasons.
