Setting up live stream for friends wedding
« on: May 24, 2020, 11:44:21 PM »
Has anyone ever set up a professional live stream? Zoom wouldn't work do to the limit and degraded quality. YouTube Live should work, I just want to know where to start.
•I have a Nikon D610 thanks to @Something Fishy
•What accessories should I buy (including internet accessories)?
•How do I set it up?
Anyone that can answer any of these questions or add any sort of tips, it would be greatly appreciated by my friend and I.
TIA

ps. Money is not the issue, hiring a professional would mean one less friend/relative at the wedding.

I would consider getting a hold of a bunch of cameras setting up on tripods before.... no one like choppy shaky video. (even with youtube, while vastly better than zoom you cant be sure everyones internet/ comouters / tiny phone screens will produce a nice image)
Even if just 2 you can move the other around while staying with the first one. Multiple camera operators would def be a plus. are they hiring a pro videographer(s) anyway?
He would more or less be filming the entire time... if you can hook up broadcast equipment to his cameras and have someone outside with a livestream control board that would not take up a slot...

With a pro system you would be able to use prepared graphic overlays and easily switch between cameras.
Make sure you have legit fast internet (maybe ethernet cables) to connect. Dont rely on ur phone hotspot.

Make sure to have a good mike for the chuppah and try to hook up to the band or fixed mike placement near a monitor.

Keep in mind many parts will be boring to watch and you may want to have prepared videos to play (i.e. shmorg, meal,) (i.e. chossons friends/ family with a personal message or pulling people over to the sidelines and inteviewing, personalized clups from his rebeim, favorite singers, etc)

Proper lighting!

You will prob want an external monitor as it can be difficult to make sure you are constantly in focus.

Thats what i have off the top of my head. I am not a professional but i have done this BH for numerous familly simchos recently.

Many of the livestream concerts recently have been done by the same guys. You can try getting in touch with them.
Also Chananya Kramer of KolRom is highly experienced and naturally a very talented individual.

Thanks for the info. I don't get why everyone is saying I need an external graphics capture for live streams which is backordered on b&h. Why can't I just plug in my camera and it'll be used instead of the web cam?

Make sure YouTube will work for you it takes a day for verification and approval. There is also a chance music from the event will trigger copyright issues on the YouTube account,  plan for this with the playlist, or try the option that cuts copyrighted audio. I have a cannon 6d a 20 foot cable and can live view on my laptop with digicamcontrol I am then using Obsstudio to cature the screen and Livestream to YouTube. My camera will only last about 20 min in this setup so only the chupa will have it. Otherwise obs will be used to stream a WhatsApp feed or zoom. I have someome who has remote access and YouTube control to switch video as well as switch over to a montage of photos of the chassan and kallah.

Then you can use a battery grip or ac power.

You need a card like DigiCam bc the hdmi port/ graphics card on most laptops can only output not input.

Will a screen capture be full quality.... most computers limit them to 720p orbsomething to save on resources?

Where can I get one? Every store between B&H and BB are completely sold out. I'm assuming from all those teachers doing live streams nowadays

In addition to the digicam i was also referring to another livestream controller to proccess final vid... allowing you to switch between feeds with physical buttons and add graphoc overlays

Prob pros. Teachers prob use cheap webcams. Try borrowing or renting. I mentioned two companies at end of my first post

Noticing this now. I borrowed a capture card from a professional. I used VMix streaming software to live stream on YouTube and Zoom at the same time.

Looking to do a live stream for a friend's wedding this week, from beginning to end.
Is is possible to do something for under 500?
I have zero equipment

Get an iPad (or phone) with a tripod depending on number of people get a paid zoom account auto mute everyone (possibly setup 3 links one for before ceremony where all guests can talk, and one for the family to talk to guests). If you own the iPads cost for a good tripod is $40 at Walmart, Zoom is $20-100. (Image quality on an iPhone is better but the large size of an iPad screen is more convenient to setup and communicate with guests)

I think zoom is a really bad way to go. So much can go wrong and when it does, some random guest becomes the host. Use youtube live, with the understanding that you will not be able to have people who are watching speak to you.

If you have a videographer, they should be able to set this up for you.
