We don't need beeping and hazmat suits, how about a machine that prints a slip of paper which you need to get into a store (with ID I guess so you can't use someone else's).

Also, actually finding people who are shedding virus should happen much less if we can get a much better handle on who is actually contagious...

If you get a regular test, first of all you don't get the result on the spot, they call you at home to tell you, and second of all you are in your car, not in public.

I've thought about the same thing by temperature checks, e.g. in foreign airports, not that I would appreciate if I had a temperature and I don't know what they would do with me but even then it doesn't mean I for sure have something contagious, people have high temperature all the time.

If something like this breathalyzer test became common and every place had one we would quickly go back to semi normal life and we would do a breath test every place we went until someone tests positive. Suddenly everyone near them would start worrying were they actually keeping a proper distance and were they actually taking proper precautions, ect.

Try to imagine if you were standing in line to go into a shop or to go through security or get on a plane and the person in front of you suddenly beeps red and a guy in hazmat suit comes to escort the person away...

That's the advantage of having them in various locations throughout the town/city, as opposed to while standing on line to get into a store.

They could even be like little phone booths so no one watches you get your result. Just lock it and send someone to sanitize it when there was a positive

Nobody needs to see where people go after they get their results.

In an airport, maybe.

But stores? Think about any store you go to and try see where they could have a line to get tested entering the store without people seeing.

That's why the booth idea might work better, although these booths would probably have to be staffed, someone would have to change the mouthpiece for each person, dispose of the used mouthpiece correctly, give instructions for people that wouldn't know what to do (we all know someone that would fit in this category ), and most of all, stop them being vandalized!

Imagine trying to go shopping and you're running from booth to booth trying to get a test receipt to get in to the store to buy your challos at the last minute before Yom tov, only to find that all of them are graffitied and smell like a bathroom!

But if you can get one receipt which lasts the whole day, hopefully you have one from earlier that day!
And they won't smell bad, they'll smell like lysol, so we're good
