--

Ultimate Rewards points may be redeemed for a statement credit to Pay Yourself Back for purchases made at select merchants within the 90 days before the redemption request date.
Currently, only purchases made with your Chase card with Ultimate Rewards at restaurants and grocery stores (including takeout & eligible delivery services), and home improvement stores will qualify. For information about Chase rewards categories and an example of eligible merchants, please see our FAQs.
Categories, eligible merchants, and purchase transaction eligibility may change from time to time without notice.
Redemptions require a minimum of 1 point.
Each point you redeem for a statement credit towards eligible Pay Yourself Back purchases is worth $0.015, which means that 100 points equals $1.50 in redemption value. Chase has the right to change redemption values at any time.
Statement credits will post to the card account within 3 business days of a request to redeem and will appear on the monthly Chase credit card billing statement within 1-2 billing cycles.
Statement credits will reduce your balance but you are still required to make at least your minimum payment. Chase reserves the right to determine which purchases qualify for a statement credit.
Even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won't qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category

Chase added benefits! Redeem points @1.5
« on: May 28, 2020, 10:06:32 AM »

Between May 31 and September 30, 2020, redeem Ultimate Rewards points for 1.5 cents each towards a statement credit that offsets purchases at dining establishments, grocery stores, and home improvement stores; ordinarily points can only be redeemed for 1.5 cents each towards travel purchases
Between June 1 and December 31, 2020, the $300 annual travel credit will be expanded to automatically be applied to purchases at gas stations and grocery stores
The $550 annual fee will be lowered to $450 for renewals between July 1 and December 31, 2020; between April 1 and July 1, Chase has been offering a $100 statement credit on renewals, so this will replace that

Yeah, this only benefits people who have a bunch of points they were planning on redeeming at 1.5 cents through their portal. Doesn't provide any extra benefits like Amex.

What grocery purchases qualify for statement credits at 1.5 CPP? Only those made on CSR? Only those made 5/31-9/30.

Cant justify the AF (although at $450 might make more sense than $550).

Any thoughts on whether:
1. The lower annual fee will apply to an upgrade from the freedom in July?
2. Can apply to prior purchases made on freedom (during 5x grocery period) after the card is upgraded to reserve?
