Recipe please? I’m curious, don’t think I’d actually end up making it tbh.

Just flour and water, with a pinch of salt. Oh, and time, lots of time.

I used this to make the starter, then started the bread with this recipe from the same person, but got fed up with the amount of steps she had it in, so started taking some timings and ideas from here and finished off using both.

Making the actual starter is quick, 2-3 minutes a day for the first 5 days.
Once the starter is ready to be used, there are lots of steps that need hours of resting / rising time in between.

The important thing is to read through and understand everything that's going on, before you start anything.. You're not just baking a cake (dump everything in bowl and mix).

If you know someone that has sourdough starter, you can skip the first step (actually making it from scratch) and get from them. But then you lose half the "Ahh, I made this myself" feeling once its done (and hopefully delicious).

Tonight I made
BBQ pizza dough for quick homemade Laffa.
using starter "discard".

Dough recipe from here. Served under Pargiyot with hummus, Israeli (style) salad and fries.

I'd rate it an overall 9/10 (forgot to add pickles and charif) :)

For anyone wanting to get started making bread, I would highly recommend the book, "Flour Water Salt Yeast" by Ken Forkish. You won't regret it, trust me. Lots of amazing info and recipes, not just for sourdough, you can make phenomenal bread with overnight preferments and even same day doughs without having to deal with a making and keeping up a starter.

ETA: Here's the book on amazon currently $18
