I believe you should have proper training before being able to own a gun. Right now if you have a brain cell you can own a gun.

Don't disagree. But it should still be a simple process.

The gun nuts will say going through proper training is a violation of the 2A.

It needs to be done in a way to preserve it as a right, not a privilege.

It deff is because then the government still controls the guns and they can make it harder and harder to get if they choose once you have all the crappy laws.

The 2nd A was to make sure we don’t have 1939 again I know the law came way before but we do see the American founders were very smart.

You don’t need many brain cells to know a gun is dangerous and you have to take care of it like it can kill someone if not used properly.

I guess most gun owners don't have many brain cells because they don't know how to take care of a gun. Where do you think all the criminals get most of their guns?

Straw purchase sales.

After that would be FFL sellers who knowingly break the law selling to them.

Next question?

Good guess but wrong.  :)
IIRC that is in the 10-12% range.

Correct so where are most of the guns coming from was the question?
Seems FFL, straw man, and street dealers.

You implied they comes from a lack of care on part of the gun owners, which to me implied theft. CMIIW.

What I am implying is they almost all come from illegal sales/activities. Everyone keeps complaining how strict gun laws are but it is easy to get one (legal or illegal). A gun owner can sell directly to a criminal. He didn't get it stolen but he doesn't have many brain cells.

If you want to argue you have right under 2A I get that. Just don't argue we have strict gun laws.

Aha, well, I don't think you can call "gun owners" the people who sell guns to criminals. That's like calling bankers that people who launder money.

There is a subset of the group who work to intentionally supply guns to criminals be it straw man, illegal FFL sales, etc.

But it's not gun owners who do it, it's people intentionally buying/selling guns for that purpose.

If you argued a huge percent were due to gun owners not locking a gun up or negligent theft that would be a different story.

Just don't argue we have strict gun laws.
One problem with the poll and OP's question is he is probably talking about NYC as are many readers.

Gun owners and FFL dealers are one in the same. Not sure how it is now but anyone used to be able to get a FFL license. Had several friends with a FFL license so there was no need for me to get one. Shotgun News was the bible for gun nuts. Could buy and sell anything.

It is not easy to own/buy a gun in NYC? I am not talking about concealed carry.

It's nearly impossible.

A law abiding citizen filling out the proper paper work will not be able to buy a gun for home protection?

Thought of this thread
...and what if the protesters had guns. What do you think would have happened?
Do you really want to make it easier to get a gun?
