It is fair to say that current unrest that has lead to violence and looting has been exacerbated by the lengthy lockdown period. If we were not in the midst of a pandemic it would have been dealt with better.

If George Floyd would have been killed in 2019, would it be this bad? Would there be so much chaos? This is a mere conjecture, but I feel that it may have been handled differently.

The authorities would be focused and the leadership would have better control of the situation.

Obviously. Nobody is claiming that the pandemic is the sole reason for the riots. All I am suggesting, is that the effects have been exacerbated and aggravated because of the tension that was already there because of pandemic associated issues.

Riots were never this bad, and so widespread with such little resistance and media coverage.

Yes. Sweden already has a worse economic downturn that its peers.

Also, ultimately lockdown is inevitable as society will not tolerate rampant overflowing of hospitals, and the longer you push it off, the worse it will be.
