American Airlines Changing Basic Fare

Hi,

I booked a basic economy American Airlines flight from TLV to JFK back when there was a great deal going. https://www.dansdeals.com/airfare-deals/israel-flights/aa-delta-united-fly-nonstop-tel-aviv-nyc-586-38k-points-round-trip/
At the time, they were offering free changes to this fare (as posted on Dansdeals and verified with airline representative and website). I am now trying to change the date of my upcoming flight but they are insisting there was never a policy of free changes on flights to/from Israel. I've tried HUCA and speaking to a supervisor, the website info seems to have changed as well. Any advice? Need to change ASAP. Thank you!

I tried making a Basic Economy reservation for TLV-JFK-TLV and it says "no changes allowed"!


On the other hand their website states that they are allowing changes for Basic Economy originating in Israel.

have the same question, thats why i didnt book basic economy on yesterdays deal.
i guess its AA's way of always being right and not have to honor changes.

@Dan is right that officially you can make changes. However, IME it requires multiple HUCAs and supervisors to get it done. Probably not worth the $50 unless it’s multiple tickets

Anyone know what the process is for the medical emergency free change waiver and how they define "emergency"?
