The best way to know this for sure is to find out where the new cases are. if there is a significant percentage in a certain part of the city it would show that it is still going around there. otherwise if its distributed equally around the city or in proportion to old known hotspots  (queens ,BP etc. ) it would show that its pretty much gone from the city.
Or if there was a way to track whether covid was the primary reason for hospitalization or not.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

the city would likely not want to release those numbers as it may show a significant number are for noncovid symptoms. (especialy if you want to believe that the liberal (or worse ) deblasio wants to leave us locked up forever. But we will leave that for another thread. this one is off topic enough)

that is only one case. Not enough to make a trend.
Are you trying to say that most of the 720 new cases and 100 new hospitalizations that occurred last Friday for example (the most recent day of accurate reporting as weekends are inaccurate, and the past few days are incomplete) are old cases that are still testing positive?
The number of new cases and hospitalizations has slowly been declining for the past month. If there aren't any new cases and the cases being reported are from old cases. why would the number of hospitalizations be going down. Are less people going to the hospital in general?
So why are the numbers declining?
Probably because more and more people who had coronavirus in March are testing negative as time goes on.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

If different parts got hit previously at different times then the lingering virus would be picked up in some parts later than others.
