Just want to point out a flaw in your math- while average life expectancy *at birth* is currently 82, *at age 80* your life expectancy is going to be another 10+ years
Yeah but the 80 number is an average as well. Could be made up of the same 90 +70 year olds that are otherwise dying at the average 82

Anyhow, both Halacha and Western society (which is is actually a result of Torah values) refuse to quantify the value of a human life.

I have no idea what they're trying to accomplish with the lockdown in Romema.
I live in a different shcuna in JLM, had no problem entering through the simtaot on foot friday afternoon or leaving motzoei shabbos. Friday night they bothered my S-i-L crossing between the tnuva buildings and the Shaarei Revacha building, but couldn't do anything as "you probably dont have your Teudat zehut".
Today its wide open for pedestrians, cars have to go through checkpoint, where they're not stopping anyone.
Many avreichim are going to kollelim in other neighborhoods...

What's the point????
There is effectively no lock-down at all.
Unless cars and buses get infected by corona ;D

Kastach for the media and secular so they can pretend to blame the frum. It's obvious that the outbreak started in secular areas this time...

Disclaimer: I was in Yerushalayim until about 2 weeks after Purim.

These are people without access to updated info. All they hear are govt funded cars with "Ram Kols" blaring messages at all hours of the night + pashkevillin posters (which are often vandalized.)

They hear that only Chareidi Neighborhoods are being shut down and are being told that R Chaim Kanievsky said it's not dangerous.  What do you want from them?

Friends who are there now said everyone is wearing masks even when alone on the streets and signs like this are a joke, just to help keep up morale.

Its in meah sharim... these guys don't have access to the outside world. All they know is barely anyone got sick or died, yet cops keep coming around shutting down their shuls and Yeshivas. So must be its a ploy to make them all irreligous. Look at it from their point of view, that's really what it seems like.

Ignorance of a global pandemic that is killing hundreds of thousands isn't a valid excuse.
Did they not see what happened in NY/NJ?

Have you ever been to meah sharim? In toldos Ahron they don't have the same time as the rest of Israel. These guys are on a different planet.

All they know is barely anyone got sick or died,

I don't know numbers, but I can tell you that, as part of the matching campaigns we made, I donated to kerens set up for quite a few Yerushalmi yidden.

+1
The current Toldos Aharon rebbe abolished that. They are now back on the same time.

On simchas torah I met the rebbe: Clock on the wall of shul was set to standard time yet the rebbes personal watch on his shtender in the Shul was DST. Gabai explained that for now the clock is kept out of kavod for the previous rebbe even though they no longer follow his Shita

A. Several people died in mea shearim neighborhood
B. Definitely most people are wearing masks obviously there's always the type that if you would say mask is forbidden they would wear...

Iím was in mea shearim last Friday and 99.9% of chalmerís I saw wore masks!

Those pachkivilin are from a select few probably the same that met with Ahmadinejad!

Ignorance of a global pandemic that is killing hundreds of thousands isn't a valid excuse.

Yes! Toldos Aharon and Toldos Ay and 99.9% of all chalmers are very aware of the dangers of COVID-19
They hear that only Chareidi Neighborhoods are being shut down and are being told that R Chaim Kanievsky said it's not dangerous.
R Chaim kanievski never said nor did I hear anybody saying in his name anything of the sort!
+ generally the people that hung up those signs donít give a hoot about what he says!

Going back to shutdowns....Cabinet approves closing the country Friday morning until Sunday morning. Only essential travel will be allowed. How wonderful they gave a small amount of money to compensate.

On the bright side, no driving on shabbos.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I'm hearing this new extreme line:
The govt is targeting Yidishkeit. Why are public pools ok but not Shuls? This is a Sha'as Hashmad and mechuyav to mosser nefesh al kiddush  H'
