I mean, with all the vaccines and infections, at some point you need to have herd immunity among the Charedim. The ones that don't vaccinate are likely the most likely crowd to have been infected already.

Israel will not follow the recommendation of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which announced on Monday that fully-vaccinated Americans can gather indoors without wearing masks or maintaining social distancing, Kan News reported on Tuesday.

All Israeli citizens are still required to wear masks in public spaces, without exceptions.

ETA: He’s wrong to suggest hospitalization numbers will tell us the true state, because hospitalization rates are skewed by vaccinated adults and high risk. Though I agree the primary Covid issue is healthcare system strain, hospitalization rates won’t tell us the true R and whether the pandemic wave is seceding or growing.

If he's right, wouldn't we see a dramatic drop in testing rates? And positivity rates static?

1 out of 4 Covid cases was identified after being flagged by the Shin Bet tools. That’s in August, even before people in quarantine were given an incentive to test (ending on day 10 with 2 negative tests instead of day 14)

Testing rates are going up and positivity down for the simple reason that under the green passport rules people (kids) who aren’t vaccinated need to present a negative test within 48h of entering a hotel or restaurant and many other location. Employees don’t have to be vaccinated but do have to test. It’s causing a lot of stress on the testing system and the Kupot have been begging to stop it.

Also, schools reopening sent ~10% of classes into quarantine, that drives the testing rate up.

I guess if they say that's the data...but I don't know. Anyone I know had bad experiences with Shin Bet tracking.

Only a tiny percentage of Shin Bet flaggings are accurate, but still a large percentage of Covid cases were identified using Shin Bet flagging.
