How do they plan on enforcing the lock down? it seems the chasidim and non religious have no intention of complying
Are they doing the "ghetto" system again?

I'm hearing rumors that true purpose of lockdown is to avoid protests against UAE deal.... can anyone confirm?

Is traveling in a private (rental?) car ok?

Would someone living in Yerushalayim be able to rent an Airbnb up north and return "home"?

No, its to prevent them from finding the second shooter on the grassy knoll

Sure - if you are driving in circles in your driveway as they are not allowing anyone to travel more than 500 meters from their residence.

If they can get there before Friday, yes. But they won't be able to return until after the lockdown is lifted.

Yup. Although the answers in the rest of your post will give credence to people who think this is true

In practicality, this is not really going to be true. It's possible you may get pulled over and you could get a ticket for driving elsewhere. Will it really happen? Not sure

See above. I don't think you'll have a problem returning home

Were you in Israel for the last lockdown? They had roadblocks on the highways entering and exiting cities and when it transitioned to lockdowns in certain neighborhoods, they had checkpoints on the streets.

My daughters friend got yelled at by a cop for taking her kids down the block to play. They definitely enforced the 500 meter rule first time around(at least in the chareidi areas of Yerushalayim).

The people who were not here have no idea what it was like.
Motzoei Shabbos after Pesach, I drove a relative (who spent the entire pesach in my house) from Neve Ya'akov back to Ramat Eshkol.
Checkpoint leaving the Shchuna, another on the highway, and yet a third to get into RE.
The same on the way back.
At each checkpoint I had to explain where I was coming from, where I was going, and why.
I told them the truth - Relative returning home and though they did not like it, they let me through.

Yes on Motzoei Shabbos you can get away with "Going to Sharei Revacha to get food" but in middle of the day it's not going to fly. (Go to the Makolet!) There's no way in the world you'll get up north or back without getting a least one fine.

On the other hand, the sentiment on the street is that there will be ZERO shituf pe'ula from the chareidi public, at least over RH and YK.
As I heard in the name of one well-known Rav/RK (who is known for how makpid he is on masking/social distancing in his shul...): "We're not going to listen" and what the govt is doing is "Rishus".
As of yesterday, one large shul in Romema (that was very makpid the first time round) had no plans to change its plans for RH: Capsules but every seat taken (300+).

If they try to shutdown a chareidi shul over RH...
My guess would be that the Govt would fall before the end of Tzom Gedalia.

In short: While within the Chareidi areas I would not be shocked if enforcement was relatively weak, outside of them/travel between them is a different story. You'll likly spend simchas torah wherever you spent RH.

You can always tell them you have a טיפול רפואי and they are not allowed to ask questions. Worked for me over pesach.

dont trust the 2pm timeline, if u plan on going away for r"h leave early, best on thursday. there will be checkpoints from friday morning, and u r gonna have a hard time explaining why a car full of kids and suitcases, plus a carriage tied to the roof, is not meant to be going away for yom tov

That didn't happen last time but still not worth the risk in case it does happen

Why is everybody treating it like a game?

For the first time in my life, I agree with Aryeh deri.

Precisely because no one respected the virus and everyone just broke the rules and mocked the whole thing.

Because no one that's accustomed to a free society is willing to accept a Wuhan style lockdown. Short of that, what's the point of a lockdown?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I was arrested twice, I mean I'd evade the cops and army in gush katif, chevron etc..

I understand it all, the chareidi deep distrust and downward animosity towards the country..

The average guy on the street losing his business.

They would not be where they are now if everybody just wore a mask

Pesach was pretty close to that...
I think the people handled it pretty well but not willing to do it again.
