Once vaccinated, you don't catch it. But you can still spread it around. That's why you still have to wear a mask and keep distance.

When the dust settles, this is likely to be the biggest b**l$#*&.

Nice to see Bahrain catching up. Wondering if they locked in supply early on like Israel did...

Bahrain isn't using the Western vaccine.

Agreed. The policy makers are just saying this for the same reason they don't want to admit that most people have antibodies longer than 6 months. They want everyone to wear masks until there is true herd immunity. But they are just making no one trust them.

What do you think that reason is?

The Chinese or Russian one?

If they vaccinate their entire population and nothing serious flares up after x months, how does that compare to a first-world double-blind controlled study?

It would be the biggest irony in the world if the Chinese can quickly and effectively supply billions of Chinese-developed effective vaccine doses around the world. North America and Europe wouldn’t go for it, but Africa and the rest of Asia might.

China. It's already happening. We'll just keep on saying we can't trust communists and national security bla bla bla.

It’s like a horrible sci-fi movie coming to life where they engineered this in a lab, spread misinformation, released evolved strains elsewhere later on (Italy, UK), and sold a few billion vaccine doses. Biggest geopolitical flex ever.

Bonus points if they also aided and abetted countries loyal to them in controlling the spread and/or developing vaccines/antidotes.

The money from the vaccine isn't significant at all.

Just one more way for them to benefit and take earn goodwill and indenturedness (sp?) from those who get a Chinese vaccine.

America can easily compete and promote the American vaccine, but you'd need some leadership for that.

Unfortunately the Chinese can cut the red tape and make it happen much quicker and more efficiently. They don’t need to front $billions like the American government to make things happen.

From what I understood one can still catch and spread covid with the vaccine, it just insures a less bad case of it.
Once vaccinated, you don't catch it. But you can still spread it around. That's why you still have to wear a mask and keep distance.
I hope you realize that it doesn't make sense as written. Maybe you meant to write "once vaccinated, you don't get sick, but you can still catch it and spread it (asymptomatic infection?)".

According to Pfizer's clinical trial, several of those who were vaccinated did get come down with covid.  Of the 325 subjects who developed covid, 275 had been given a placebo, and 50 had been vaccinated.   Of those 50, most had gotten sick during the week or two after getting the injection, so masks would definitely be warranted at that time.

But even after the second injection, a few people developed covid: 172 in the placebo and 9 in the vaccinated group.  So the vaccine decreases the risk of getting sick, but doesn't eliminate it entirely.

Nobody knows why those specific individuals got covid after vaccination, so everyone who's vaccinated is advised to maintain masking and distancing to keep their risk low.  Many of those being vaccinated first are davka those who are most vulnerable, so it's important that they realize that they're not 100% immune.

Can those who were vaccinated still carry virus in their nasal passages/mouth/lungs and expel it, thereby transmitting the disease to others?  Nobody has the answer to that yet (though it's being studied), so that's a second reason to continue masking and distancing.

Discussed earlier:

Hence the 94-95% effectiveness of the vaccine. Nobody said it was 100% effective.

Yet, the humility to put that limitation front and center, which IMHO would actually earn credibility, is still lacking.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Posts like this seem to imply that some mistakenly believe the vaccine to be 100% effective:

I don't know what you've been reading, but those limitations were mentioned in the articles I read.

It isn’t, but in a society with herd immunity R number will remain below 1 so even if there’s active infection it will soon die out. Compared to thousands of daily deaths a day in the US, in the hypothetical reality that everyone was suddenly vaccinated, after a relatively short while (say 2 weeks) COVID would be as much a concern as (gasp) the flu.
