YWN: Israel’s Gedolei Yisrael: “Return To Davening Outside”

HaGaon HaRav Chaim Kanievsky and HaGaon HaRav Gershon Edelstein instructed the public on Monday to strictly adhere to health regulations in light of the alarming rise in coronavirus cases in recent days.

In a letter published on Monday, the Gedolei Yisrael wrote: “Due to the increase in coronavirus infections and in order to prevent risk and illness and prevent the cancellation of Talmudei Torah and Tefillah B’Tzibur, everyone should be extremely stringent on adhering to health regulations.”

But Israel did 112k tests yesterday. They are really ramping up, so numbers aren't exactly equivalent to the numbers with less testing.

Israel leads the world in vaccinations per capita, but also in essential workers per capita
someone asked me what ive been doing since covid, i said "im not really sure myself, but i can assure u that it is essential"

Hospitalizations don’t care about testing. And they’re just as high. And rising much faster due to the mutation.

7.3% positivity rate.
I can't believe people are still making this argument

The year is 2033, the world is in midst of its 57th wave of covid; people are saying "maybe this time the numbers are high because of too much testing".

41% over 60 for their first dose already!
Should get to ~85% by the time we start losing slots to second dose (assuming the Moderns shipment actually materializes)
https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/55-of-israelis-over-60-have-received-first-dose-of-vaccine/
Now at 55%
Reports are that vaccination drive slowed significantly today. 100K Moderna vaccines arriving Thursday, not really enough to make a meaningful dent

Should be 60% of 60+ by tonight, + 12.5% of 60+ who has covid already, getting close to the point where there aren’t any more 60+ willing and able to get vaccinated. In an Ohio hospital only 40% agreed to be vaccinated

I think the 55% includes today (as the total vaccinations in the post is 1.5 million, which is around 120K more than yesterday)

I’ve seen articles out of other places that 40% of staff are refusing.

It doesn't seem to matter because that nobody is actually listening to the rules or going into the hotels I've read hundreds of stories of just really nothing being actually enforced.
