Am I the only one wondering if Rav Chaim's family knows what the NYT is? It's clear from the article that the author entered the house with permission, along with a staff photographer, to observe Rav Chaim and also interview his grandson. It's one thing if the NYT decided to write an anti-gadol article on their own, but for a family that made him unavailable for Bibi, maybe I'm out of the loop, but I would have expected them to slam the door on an American newspaper (especially the Times) even harder.
Don't know, but the article could have been worse. There was an attempt to provide some perspective.

Agreed. WIthout the last few paragraphs, it would have even been reasonable

What is with the lighting in all those pictures in the article? I've never seen such bleak/dark lighting in any pics from his house.
It's edited, obviously. They clearly want to portray it as something insidious.
Re: the pictures. I think the photographer here was aiming for something more dramatic, portraying the rabbi in a traditional and classical scene.  Artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Rembrandt made use of this technique, in which the importance of one person may be highlighted when light shines on them from one direction.  The light and shadow give the painting a somewhat three-dimensional appearance.  Rembrandt often painted someone near a window, to get that effect, and many of his subjects were Jews from his neighborhood.  Looks to me like the photographer is channeling Rembrandt, rather than channeling evil intent.

Thanks.

I meant for next time. Either way I had already read the article through archive.is.

Maybe. Should we give the NYT the benefit of the doubt?   :P

If Bibi would have come in person then he probably also would have gotten a private audience.

Another 8k+ cases. I am truly at a loss how this is happening. There is no rational explanation for this. You have almost 20% of the population vaccinated with both shots. You have the 1 in 5 Charedim already infected. You have a strict lockdown in terms of closed spaces. How is the virus still spreading so fast? It makes no sense.

I know I have posted this multiple times but I just keep getting blown away that we have seen practically no fall in the numbers at all. Our infection rate is more then 5 times that of the USA.

According to kupot holim, quoted by local press, there is simply less demand for vaccines / lack of enthusiasm among younger population

I'm just curious & confused about this sudden outbreak. Is there a likelihood that the vaccine resulted in the new covid19 variant? I'd be happy if anyone can disprove this theory. There are rumors saying that alot of the elderly, including Rabbi Abraham J Twerski, died after getting dose 1 or 2 of the vaccine.
This article was quite alarming:

The concept of Vaccine-induced enhancement is pretty frightening as well, See links below:

The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines do not use the virus they use mRNA -

Quote
mRNA vaccines are a new type of vaccine to protect against infectious diseases. To trigger an immune response, many vaccines put a weakened or inactivated germ into our bodies. Not mRNA vaccines. Instead, they teach our cells how to make a protein—or even just a piece of a protein—that triggers an immune response inside our bodies. That immune response, which produces antibodies, is what protects us from getting infected if the real virus enters our bodies.

This doesn't show Vaccine-induced enhancement. It doesn't show anything other than the fact that the vaccine induced immunity may not be sterilizing immunity
