Pesach 2021 - the writing is on the wall for Pesach 2021 in Israel, or lack thereof for tourists or Israelis in hotels, David Intercontinental in Tel Aviv will be closed for Pesach. Got the following email from them this morning, "As you may have heard, the Israeli government recently approved hotel openings with limited operations, yet there is much uncertainty and ongoing changes regarding the implementation and legalities relating to the 'Green Passport' and vaccination status both for hotel guests and staff. 

During this past year, we have been eagerly waiting for this moment to arrive where we can once again host you at the InterContinental David, implementing many changes to ensure we can deliver our brand promise of True Hospitality.

Our commitment to the health and wellbeing of our guests and our employees is of the utmost importance and is due to this that we have taken the difficult decision not to open for Pesach this year. 

We kindly request that you cancel your bookings for Pesach.

We look forward to being able to host you and your families at the InterContinental David Tel Aviv in the near future, at a time when we can provide the level of luxury that’s has become synonymous with our brand.

I was there around 9:30am. At some point in the afternoon they called me to ask if I was vaccinated (I am guessing because they saw the high antibody count and couldn't find any record of vaccination). I got results by 5:45pm. Ichilov still didn't provide results - I will have to dispute the CC charge unless they agree to refund.

Israel is getting really close to vaccinating the maximum number of people. Currently 43.7% of the population received at least 1 dose, when you add nearly 8% of the population who tested positive (minus some overlap) you're at around 50%. Approximately 30% of the population is under 16, so they're not eligible. That leaves around 20% (1.8 million people) who haven't received at least 1 dose.

Now 2 weeks later 52.4% of the population received at least 1 dose. I assume a decent number of those who who tested positive are among the vaccinated. 8.5% of the population tested positive, if we assume half of them got the vaccine, that gives us 56.65% of the population either tested positive or got the vaccine. That leaves only around 13.5% of the population (1.25 million people) eligible for the vaccine but still not immune or vaccinated. This also means Israel was able to vaccinate between 1/4 and 1/3 of the remaining eligible population in the past 2 weeks.

IIRC you can do it online with just the antibody test. I believe they recently changed the requirement.
