Israel semi final update for the day. Only 44 cases. Another big week over week drop. 0.23% positive.
And this is a weekday...
Final update 77 cases!

I don't get how one day BH without deaths alleviates fears of experts. Hyperbolic headline IMHO

Today looks to also be another regular weekday with very low numbers. 0.19% positive so far.

I can definitely say that it looks like there will be plenty of Israelis coming to NY for ג תמוז, I don't think we've seen such masses in a while.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Israel reported only 79 new cases on Friday and only 13 new cases on Shabbos.

Both are big week over week drops from already very low numbers.

0.2% positive on Friday and 0.1% positive on Shabbos.

Let's also see the good.

Iyh in a few weeks it will be more like 81%

How do you figure? If 82% is domestic Israeli spread then more people entering Israel will just result in more cases coming in and there would be a proportional increase in domestic spread.

Domestic spread? Not if there isn't anyone to spread to.

Minors and the fraction of adults who aren’t immune (unvaccinated and not recovered). R will be well below 1, but it still spreads some.

Otherwise how do you explain the 82%? Are those just recently vaccinated people who didn’t build up full immunity yet?

But they are continuing to decline. Israel still didn't hit a plateau. It's winding down like everywhere with partial herd immunity. It's not absolute, but most encounters don't transfer, so it slowly dies down.

Assuming R/immunity has plateaued, an absolute increase in cases due to travel will cause an absolute increase in cases spread domestically. I agree that domestic spread will fizzle out due to herd immunity/low R, but the absolute numbers could go up.
