voting
« on: June 05, 2020, 12:12:24 PM »
Look how easy it is to clinch a primary race: in the 9th district congressional there are 5 Democtartic candidates
Once you win the primary, you're just about  guaranteed to win the general, with 89% voting Democrat over Republican last time.

in the 2018 primary, only 30,500 people voted, and there were only 2 Dem candidates, giving the incumbent just 53% which amounted to 16,202 votes  (this time, there will be more votes cuz of dem pres primary, but there are 5 candidates to offset)

This district includes Crown Heights, Flatbush and many other Frum areas
This year, ANYONE can request an absentee ballot online (ur not required to go in on election day, due to pandemic)

see pics below and do the math!!

What if I moved within New York City since the last time I voted?
When you move, New York State law requires you to change your address with the BOE within 25 days. You do this by submitting a new voter registration form and filling in the information on the form, including information in the box labeled “Voting information that has changed”. Fill in your new and old address, check the box for the party you wish to be enrolled in (do this even if you were enrolled in a party at your old address), and provide any other requested information. If you moved but you didn’t change your address with the BOE before the deadline, you should go to your new polling place and vote by affidavit ballot. Call 866-VOTE-NYC to find out whether your change of address has been processed.

I think the deadline refers to 25days before election so may be too late to change for nov 3. See rest of faq

Thanks! but it seems that voting by affidavit ballot should do the trick.

Reviving this thread since Friday is the last day to regist in NYS to vote on Nov 2nd.
Interesting race to fill City Council seat that's been vacated by Chaim Deutsch. A non-frum democrat running against a republican woman who refers to herself as Russian baalas teshuva.
This seat has had many yarmulke wearing councilmen throughout the years including the late Noach Dear A"H, but not this time around:)

When was the last time the seat was won by a republican? Saperstein is good for the frum.

Hasn't been moved yet, meanwhile....

Does Jack have a chance in NJ, if the entire Lakewood voted for him?

Short answer: It depends how wrong the polls are. Long answer: ask in this thread
