In the 2014 NYPD strike, crime was down. It may be because crime statistics are recorded by Police, but either way a strike is not going to help the Police.

The smart thing to do is to join the protests and not be perceived as the enemy. The bamboo that bends is stronger than the oak that resists. Doesn't help to be dead right.

So basically officials in minority urban areas decrease police funding resulting in a wave of (at least quality of life) crime in those areas, which will spur the electorate in nearby white middle class and wealthy suburbs to increase their police funding, resulting in an even more stark contrast between the black and white neighborhoods,  causing middle class unease when urban residents from the high crime area are in their neighborhoods, which will result in more BLM protests etc.
