OP title: Defunding police is the answer to racism?
OP on defunding: But why is the answer to take money from police.
Notice he is talking about taking money away, not getting rid of all police.
OP then pivots to this meaning: No funding, no policede·fund

prevent from continuing to receive funds.
Not one person calls him out for pivoting. I wonder why, NOT!!!
Now lets answer to the OP question with his pivot definition. No funding means no police. No police means there will be no racism by police. Problem solved!
I'm not the OP. I believe my point was consistent throughout, though not necessarily consistent with the OP as can be seen based on the article I cited.
To make my position clear (not that anyone should actually care), I believe all taxpayer funded depts should be reviewed on on a regular basis and funds should be diverted as needed more pressing matters or eliminated entirely as needed. This should not be a nonsensical response to racism or antisemitism, or anything of that sort.
Perhaps it's just an eye-opener to what really needs to be cut similarly to how COVID19 gave me a good excuse and kick in the pants to implement several cuts that were long overdue.
Hard for me to say if there is too much funding for police without a thorough review, but I suspect there is alot of room for efficiencies. If actual policing has even a fraction of the inefficiencies that we witness everyday at construction site police details (I know, those are privately funded), then we need to really consider cuts.
All of this really has nothing to do with actual or perceived police racism. The answer to police racism is more transparency and oversight just like every other industry.
I suspect I'm alot quicker to fire one of my employees for negligently stepping out if line with a client than a public agency.
