nice little win; transferred 60k points to FB after seeing promo award availability, but after trying to book kept getting technical error. after many HUCA agent explained that those promo awards are not really available on the backend so in order to honor them they added the missing points (25K) to manually complete the booking with reg award pricing.

1. Is 25% off for children only on Air France/KLM metal? Their T&Cs say nothing about it, but doesn't seem to work on Delta metal.

2. Is the 50 EUR change/cancellation fee per pax or booking?

warning re. poor customer service, when I called to try get on an earlier flight was told promo fare was not changeable rather had to be cancelled and rebooked (risky), "Standby is not availble on award fares" ! and when asked for contact # for airport check-in desk (UK) was told to google it! (there is no number) otoh when the booking agent was super helpful and followed up by email to confirm my fare etc. so YMMV..

According to phone rep, change/cancellation fee is per person and 25% discount for children is only with Air France/KLM metal.

Trying to book GVA-JFK (economy on DL).

If I book this leg as a return of RT ticket, then taxes and fees are $67.52, but if I book it as a OW then the fees jump to $224.55.

Does this seem right? Any way to get rid of the high fees?

Yup. They charge for the return. If you book RT on Virgin Atlantic, they don't charge for the return (they will if you do 2 OWs).

LM is 16,500 (not sure if GVA-JFK, too, might be only JFK-GVA). Used to be ZRH , too, but that was fixed recently.

FB also dosnt charge on the return if booking a RT.

So no way to get around it? Any other partner perhaps that don’t tack on those fees?
You think if I book as a RT and then cancel the first leg they will refund me me 1/2 the miles…?

LM is only 16,500 JFK-GVA. Besides, not partners with Delta.

Is it possible to change just one leg of an award ticket? I want to have a longer stopover in CDG.

If the flight you want is showing availability then yes, but they charge a $50 change fee.

The leg I want to change is available but not the second leg. They are telling me that I can't just change one leg. HUCA?

Looks like all changes require the reservation to be cancelled and rebooked. .

I've had luck with this by having them split the itinerary, although it might not always be possible based on how the mileage was priced.
Separately, we had one passenger in our group booked on a different flight and he didn't want to pay the $50 change fee. They were able to reticket him at the airport onto our flight without any fees, but each airport was only able to reticket their departing flight (it involved two segments) so it requires flexibility since it's hit or miss.

It's a common issue best avoided by never logging in to FB with that reservation. If the skymiles number is on the boarding pass, you will need FB to reverse the credit and only then will DL give the credit.
