Why don’t you just go to the open to the public places? There are some fantastic lunch pickups around town

Gd Forbid they can pass some of those savings to us with tuition.....
I love how it always comes back to this. As if the little money they make will cover lost fundraising and lost tuition from people who lost their jobs, nevermind a tuition refund. I know a Rebbi in a small school (I think the school is in your community), he told me his boss was only able to make payroll by personally borrowing 50k and covering it with PPP.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Amazing how instead of being grateful for all of the craziness the schools have gone through to continue being mechanech their children through all of this upheaval some can't handle that maybe some of the tremendous shortfall that schools are experiencing may actual get filled without them needing to do fundraising in an impossible environment.

Grateful for what? They are cutting teachers salaries. Saving a ton of $ for not having to run in a physical building, and now you guys are saying they are making money from this program. They are not giving any tuition discounts even to families affected by the situation.

The ones who are going through the most craziness are the parents for the most part. It’s not like the kids can sit in zoom by themselves. We need to sit with them so they are basically getting home schooled.

AFAIK schools aren't cutting any salaries. The savings by not running the building are minuscule compared to the overall budget, as @aygart has said many times based on his expertise. Schools can't cover cost based on tuition alone, they need to fundraise. A lot of fundraising has dried up, how are they supposed to cover the hole in budget?

Where do you think the extra cash is going? Is it a private school being run at a profit?

I wonder what percentage of the schools actually did that. I haven't heard of that from all the teachers I know.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Why would they be doing that? Are they experiencing financial instability that is leading them to do this?

i guess they are but again they are not giving tuition breaks, their expenses are down, so something is not adding up

1. The amount you think expenses are down may be totally off. Considering possible expenses for conferences they may even be up.

2. How have their actual tuition receipts been? How has their fundraising been? Do they have an event slave which will now remain unused? Did they typically get rent from a camp which may not open? Any other income which may be down?

i can only speak for my school. They don’t really rely on fundraisers much. They do a couple of small ones a year. Teachers are all teaching in zoom from home I don’t see how that raises their expenses. Again they are not giving tuition discounts, they are giving more time to pay but you still have to pay in full

Fundraising can occur outside of events as well. As a practical matter they are unlikely to get anywhere near the full tuition paid. Their stance is more likely to filter out some who have a small blip of instability but may bounce back let quickly once this is over. I cannot speak for your school and others here have mentioned experiences that don't match with any school I know. I can only speak based on the schools I have seen.
