Employers: part vs full time termination
« on: June 12, 2020, 04:24:29 PM »
From a compassionate angle (assuming you can function either way), do you opt to keep many employees part time per their reduced schedules or do you consolidate positions and keep just a few full time.
I'd like to hear from employees as well as employers.

Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

One thing to keep in mind is that if you keep them all part time (assuming they are happy with that and can get UI), you won't have to look for new staff when you are ready to increase their hours.
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

I can't imagine that they wouldn't all want to work part time and get UI+600 since they would likely be getting a raise for fewer hours.

They need to understand that after July they would still be part time.

My daughter would choose full time or layoff.

If you lay off partially you can sign up for your state's Work Share program which means no increase in your UI tax rate.
Each state has its own rules but any state that offered a Work Share program prior to March 27, 2020 (CARES Act passage date) gets 100% funding for Work Share, while states who are only implementing a program now receive 50% funding which means employers in those states will only have 50% of UI costs billed to their account.
