Amazingly similar to the argument made by many Jews after the pogroms of 1905, who felt it was better to stay in Russia than move to America. I would say the odds are less than 10% that they have living descendants today, religious or non.

Yes but what's your point? There are times when people missed the signal to leave, but there are also times when people left too early.

Jews in Israel are far more threatened that Jews in the US now. It's wishful fantasy that being in the Jewish homeland guarantees safety.
