Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do with the kids (10 and under) in the Dead Sea area in December?

thx
If it's not too cold, there is a nice national park right after Qumran on the way down. Little pools of spring water with fish in them, and wet walking paths. Lots of fun if it's warm.
And the LM has a nice kids room.
And you can do camel riding with some arabs if you're into that kind of stuff.

Just reporting some info from my stay at the hotel last week, for those wondering about king/twin beds availability. I had reserved two King-bed rooms, since that seems to be the only type of room you can get for SPG points. But we needed 6 beds for my family and connecting rooms. So I called the hotel before and asked if I could get connecting rooms and twin beds in each room. They said it shouldn't be a problem, and i should request that when I check in.
When I checked it, I was told there were no twin-bed rooms available, so I would only have 1 king bed in each room, but my two rooms would be connected. Then I asked about getting 1 or 2 cots in each room, and I was told they could add the cots, but then there would be a charge of 60 (dollars?) for each child/cot. So I said never mind, and that I would check out the room first to see whether we needed cots brought in.
When we went upstairs, we found that there was actually a king bed in one room, and two twin beds in the other room, and that both rooms had a convertible couch as well. The point is that the people at the desk are completely clueless about what kinds of beds are in the rooms. (Maybe someone else can confirm, but I would also assume that all connecting rooms at the hotel have a king in one room and twins in the other.)  As for the one cot that we needed....... open storage room two floors up, freight elevator, and a little shlepping down the hall....

to be continued in the ethics thread?

As in, "is it ethical for a hotel to charge a whopping 60 bucks per cot, when they were notified in advance of the bed configuration required?"...

not necessarily. SPG will tell you its fine and free of charge, but the hotel will try and charge you, a little arguing will get you done, or do it yourself, done them all.
