Good POS for camp canteen
« on: June 15, 2020, 07:22:44 PM »
Looking for a good POS for a camp canteen. An important feature that I need is that customers should be able to prepay their tabs in advance and be able to charge orders to those accounts.
TIA
Still looking for a good MS method :)

My friend wrote an app for this. The canteen bought a bunch cheap tablets with heavy cases and jetpack. Worked very well

Let me just state it here. I used gift cards, each kid got a gift card in the beginning of camp and parents loaded it up. Kids didn't stop swiping. It was the greatest thing for me

Did you use a custom gift card system or you used reloadable Visa gift cards?
120 characters? Hmm, I wonder what I could write with 64 characters. Boy, it's gonna be hard to use up 15 characters. W-

Yeah but if kids lose them then they'll hit you forever and ever for not reimbursing!
unless each gift card is linked to a kid's name and how much money they have in their account so that you can pull it up on the computer without them having the card.

That's why each boy's gc number was written down with their name. If a kid loses his it'll cost $5 fee for card, I empty the original and hand him new one.

Are parents able to view their kids balance?

This actually sounds like a really good idea!

Not virtually, but after every purchase the boy gets a receipt which states the balance. I one time had a boy who said "I only spent like $10 why is there no money left, if my mother put on $100?" Didn't take too much time before pulling up all his purchases and him agreeing with me that indeed he spent $100. Yes that kids gift card was reloaded by his parents the next day.

I'm no whiz, but those that know how to use Microsoft Excel will claim that it's possible to do almost anything with an Excel sheet.

You can, but sometimes the question is: should you?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Small people talk about other people.
Average people talk about things
BIG PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IDEAS.
