thanks for the suggestions! but young america is a little pricey, i found bonavita to be more economical, do you know how they compare in quality?  i'm not trying to be cheap. i want a good quality crib but at the same time the most for my buck .

Check this out on AMZN: Babyletto Modo Crib in Two-tone Espresso/White www.amazon.com/dp/B004M160DE/?tag=cl03f-20

We didn't like the converter look. It is a little lower down. Was easy to put together.
So far we would recommend it. Together with the mattress was $500

i bought this 2 yrs ago www.amazon.com/dp/B000FT9J3A/?tag=cl03f-20
i spent all together with the mattress i thin 250$
i bought it from overstock in the cherry color and have been very happy with it.. (price mistake on mattress and cost me 35$)
one complaint though- it scratched REALLY easy.. some pple said they shellacked it b4 using and havnt had any proble.. i just bought www.amazon.com/dp/B00208MJIQ/?tag=cl03f-20
which i like the look on the crib anyhow...
and another annoying thing is that when the mattress is all the way to the bottom theres no room for a bed skirt around not sure if thats on all the cribs or on this one specifically...
all in all my son never slept in it and actually went straight into a regular bed. with bars!

i priced it out on babies r us- and actually they have a sale that if u buy the crib http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2574635 (200$ in any color) and a mattress- u get 50% off the mattress- which will end up being 32$- which is a steal... http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2574733
im sure u can get some other coupon in there.... good luck

I think I posted how I got the baby italia hamilton set for half price but a search turned up nothing.
It's really a beautiful and appears to be very high quality.

There was an in-store 25% off furniture promo that stacked (after some shmoozing) with buy 2 furniture pieces and get a free crib.
We spent $79 to have it delivered and assembled in the baby's room.

The Ikea cribs are actually rated pretty decent, and are very inexpensive.  If you're looking for environmentally friendly, try Baby's Dream.

Both my sister and my brother had Young America cribs purchased for them as a gift by my grandparents. They love them, but it seems like when they got them a few years back it was well under $500 (mattress and delivery included). I called the same store they got it from and Young America cribs now start at $650 for the crib alone. I love their stuff, especially some of the collection pieces, but not at that price.

Keep in mind that if you have preferences as to style and wood stain/color, it might narrow your options. Also, the range on price for cribs is pretty wide. You can get something that people will swear is fantastic for $100, or something more substantial and with a more permanent furniture feel, maybe with a fancy designer name for $1000, and everything in between. Start with the features most important to you and let that narrow your focus.

Ikea has some options that are solid wood - you can't get cheaper.

Don't need the cheapest. Willing to spend around $400 plus or minus if it's worth it.
