Passport rules for flying to Israel
« on: June 18, 2020, 04:04:01 PM »
Hi, wasnt sure where to post this, maybe someone can help me with this question.
My daughter is (IY"H, hopefully) going to Israel for the year for seminary in Sep. The travel agent handling the group flight said that the passports need to be valid for 18 months from then. Of course as luck would have it, my daughter's passport expires Jan. 25 2022, which is about 17 months from then. As far as I can tell, the only rule is 6 months from departure date, and I assume that since it's a one year open ticket they say 18 months, but in actuality my daughter will not stay for the whole year but leave in June, so there's more than 6 months validity from then. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Do I really need to be worried that Elal won't let her on the plane because of this? Any help would be appreciated. TIA!

Probably means 6 months beyond the requested student visa validity in order to get the student visa, which may or may not be the language of the rules in Israel but is extremely unlikely to be enforced. There is certainly no chance Elal will give her any problems.

Correct. Some type of valid passport is necessary for international travel

yes, however he has to arrange a תעודת מעבר.
The Israeli consulate should be able to help.
Good luck
