Question about mandatory quarantine in NYS

I doubt enforcement will go up, but this is more reasonable, and should be implemented globally.

The guidelines, effective Nov. 4, will replace the 14-day quarantine requirement for travelers from most of the country, based on New York’s travel advisory. It will apply to all states except for those neighboring New York, such as Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Visitors must continue to fill out a health form upon arrival.

Curious to see if EWR starts to see a larger percentage of traffic.

I would imagine they have already. Just look at Israeli news articles about what travel is available to Israelis without quarantine, they all recommend flying to EWR. I would imagine others do the same.

While it wasn't the only reason, but was definitely a consideration for me as to how to bring DW back from TLV.

From what I've seen EWR flights tend to sell out faster, yes. I personally went in/out of EWR to avoid violating NYS quarantine rules. Good thing Biden is coming to bail NY out.

If you then go and drive to NY, you are violating NY quarantine rules. If you live out of state, you aren’t subject to NY quarantine rules.

UPDATED NY COVID TRAVEL RULES: New York is doing away with its quarantine travel advisory list and replacing it with a blanket testing requirement. Instead, anyone traveling to New York from out of state must have proof of a negative test dated within three days of arriving in the state. Travelers must also quarantine for at least three days upon arrival and get another COVID-19 test on the fourth day.

If a NY resident one returns from a week in Florida without testing 3 days in advance, can he simply quarantine at home for 2 weeks? And, do they really check if you’re staying home?

I just flew in to JFK from Cancun. After customs, there was a station where they were giving everyone NYS Health forms to be filled out before you can leave the airport. They said the forms are to be filled out by by New York residents or visitors. I asked and was informed that I didn't have to fill it out as I told them that I live in NJ. No proof of address was required and I walked out without handing back the form.

Thanks. This is good to know. Did you happen to see what questions were on there with regard to the testing? Were you asked at any point prior to boarding if you had a negative test within 3 days?

I was not asked any questions regarding testing at any point. On the form, one of the questions ask if you had taken a covid test within 72 hours of arrival to NYS. If you choose yes, they reserve the right to request a copy of the test and require you to take an additional test 4 days after you arrive.

Guidance for Travel
All individuals coming into New York from either a non-contiguous state or US territory, or any CDC
Level 2 or Level 3 Health Notice country, whether or not such person is a New York resident, are
required to complete the traveler health form upon entering New York. Significant penalties will be
imposed on any individual who fails to complete the traveler health form.

One of my kids was quarantined and they called every day.

My daughter is almost done with her second quarantine, and they have not called yet.  Are they overwhelmed, or have they given up?
