Wow, an actual well-done MSM piece? Color me surprised. I expected it to me mostly nut-picking and was pleasantly surprised. I think the most egregious picture is the bochur yawning without covering his mouth lol.

Yeah, I was thinking NYT should've used this photographer for the yeshiva article.
I thought that bochur was singing... in tune with the swinging payos two rows behind him.

Trying the last few days to get some data points and informaition from people but couldn't find,
I'm looking at a flight home Sep 18 9:25am from IAS is that even possible to make?
Google maps show 3hr10min if I leave Uman at 12am arrive to Mohlyiv-Podil'skyi border crossing, which is the only one open from Ukraine that's the closest to Uman
then to IAS airport another 3hr10min
So the zman Motza Yom Tov would be 8:20pm that gives almost 12hrs to make it to the airport.
Anyone that can fill me in with more recommendations?

It's very tight. Most borders are at least 1hr wait possibly longer around RH time.
Keep in mind that you will be crossing 4 borders (2 authorities at each border) and all of them at night...
I have done this specific drive (Uman to IAS) both by car and ambulance. My fastest was via Palanca border (closer to Odesa) in 7 hours.

Thank you,
Il be doing the border by walking over I think that is quicker then waiting in car, 6 spare hrs wont be enough?
How do you get ambulance and why did you go via Palanca border ?

How many other people may have the same plan as you? could tha lead to longer than usual delays? You cant compare it to a usual night a 12am

Some borders are for vehicle traffic only, others are open for pedestrians during the day.
I purchased and operated more than 1 ambulance. Mostly used to rescue & transport holocaust survivors from the war zone.
Palanca is often safer than the others.
You are looking at a minimum of 6 hour drive time. +1 hour to leave uman, +2 hours at borders +2 hours at airport = total of 11 hours if no major delays.

Last year I flew from IAS, 8am flight, left Uman at 8:15pm and arrived at 5am to IAS. Went through mogilov border by car and that was a big mistake as it took 3 hours with only about 15 cars in front of me. The people that crossed by foot at the same time got through in under 30 minutes. The Moldova-Romania border is a joke and took 10 minutes (can only cross by car). Similar experiences when I traveled in middle of the year.

Palanka border wouldn't make sense if you're going to IAS as it's a lot further, I've done it when I flew from KIV though, the travel time is much quicker than mogilov if going to KIV.

I would be very comfortable taking a 9:25am flight if you leave Uman right after the zman and cross the border by foot.

Can you share a location of mogilov border?
