I too got 1 1099 for one of my cards.  It shows $649 but I just got approximately $80 in rewards on this card. Not sure if I will get 1099 for each card I enrolled in this promotion.

I have already opened a case with Amex on this by calling the customer service, they say that they will respond within 2 weeks.

I wouldn't call getting many thousands of dollars of gifts getting slaughtered, but it is disappointing, especially the ones that got bumped over $600 due to SR.

Don’t get me wrong I would have done the same thing if I had the time. Most of these deals are risk vs rewards.

Really even less than $600 must be reported, so a SR bumping you over that threshold is sort of irrelevant.

I'm assuming you know SR was included by calculating the breakdown yourself?

Those 2 statements seem contradictory to me.  If it's less than $600 then no 1099 goes out.  And even if it has no SSN you still "need" to report it.

Granted under $600 the company does not need to send out a 1099, but (1) I personally have received over 20 1099s this year for much less than $600 from other companies, and (2) officially, regardless of receiving a 1099 or not, even a $5 gift/other is supposed to be claimed.
But you are right, at that level of hakpada, even if you were to receive a 1099 that isn't actually linked to you with a SSN, it should be reported. Freudian slip!

A few bank promos. Most of them come as 1099INT, but a few are 1099MISC. Some of them are as little as $100. :/

Bank promos should all be 1099-INTs which have no minimum.  Who sent you a 1099-MISC for under $600?

Took me a little while to find it Every single bank gave me a 1099int, except for banco popular. They sent me 2 1099misc, each showing $50 in box #3, other income.

Sounds like a mistake on their part, should be 1099-INT if it's from a bank.
