So Lowes is having a July 4 sale (until July 8 ) on major appliances. But all of their upright freezers can only be bought in store. I went into a local one and they had one upright freezer that isn't what I'm looking for. I also saw another thread on DDF that said there's a backlog on freezers and I see there is a delay on some other websites.

So 2 questions: What's the deal with the shortage? (Is it expected to get back to normal any time soon?)

And what's my best bet on getting a freezer in the near future for a not crazy price? I'm looking for something in the 17-20 cu. ft. range and in the $600-800 range.

I have bought from local stores, not in Brooklyn, and not recently, so idk if they will have stock. Just suggesting. Buying experience is better regardless

Town Appliance in Lakewood usually has reasonable prices.
And importantly, they give advice!

I know someone who got from there today. But there is indeed a shortage, not expected to restock until September from what I hear.

HD has a Frigidaire 20 CF in stock. Call center said it isn't in their warehouse but they're expecting it in transit.

they only get funding if they have whom to serve which gets difficult when everyone goes back to work,
its a major hassle to run this operation, many administrators were waiting for the day they could stop this
stores are getting more money when people go shopping, distributes were raking it in

but stores are losing out less people buying
