You already have that, I assume what you're looking for is a way to embed rather than attach the images.
Right
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Yeah, I think I might defer to the web developer here :D

And something that allows file sizes larger than like 4.5kb.

If you can grab the URL of the uploaded image, it should be pretty simple to stick that into [img] tags, no?

Like this?

(from https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=5396.msg80722#msg80722)

1. Simple for me and you yes, not for someone who has trouble embedding from Flickr or wherever.
2. The issue here is that there's no img URL until submitting the post, so that would need to change to allow uploading the picture first so there's a URL to embed.

Right! The question is if someone can write a plugin or something to automate that.

2. That does complicate things a bit, but maybe a script/something could put a placeholder IMG tag and then populate it after you submit? IDK

Or if there's a way to enable drafts in SMF, maybe it could upload and save a draft, and then add in the img tags. Just thinking out loud...

It would probably make more sense to just upload it first and use the actual URL in the post

There's (almost) always a way, the question is how much it'll take... ;)

Some more pros to moving to a WP based forums:

1. Cleaning up things that 99% of people don't use, just look at all this:

I think things like that scare off many new posters. Hyperlinking, italics, bold, should all work the same as microsoft word or gmail, no need to have some buttons like on SMF for it...

2. Integrate with DDMS would be huge, it would give a single website experience which would easily integrate great content from what is currently 2 sites.

3. Based on point 2, the deals section would be able to be optimized to get more views, have a real voting system, easier to scan for good deals, and not clog up the unread messages on DDF, as it'll be more sortable.

4. With it being easier to access from DDMS/a more user friendly format, that means more users joining, more information being added to wikis, more trip reports, yes more noobs initially, but I think people can realize with time noobs become very helpful users as well.

5. Integrating with comments on DDMS for usernames, so you can know/recognize who you are talking to on a DDMS post.

It's a long road, and I think @Suave can design an awesome WP forums that takes the best of what DDF SMF has to offer and simplify/add to it on WP.

I think the most helpful comments here would be what reasons people have for not or for moving, and what is their wish list for new features as well as features they do not want to change, i.e. we need wikis, we need all the image codes from BBCode to be integrated, etc.
hold it. who says no uses all the features here?? >:(
nothings impossible- the word itself says Im possible

Am I understanding correctly that https://www.smfhacks.com/smf-gallery-pro.php can be used for this (and possibly even work for posting WhatsApp video clips)? Combine this with an "Add image or video" popup and you've addressed the issues.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Leave existing forum and add a few features.

A Google search box, so it doesn't need to exactly match spelling.
Easier multi post replying.
Is there a way to reference a specific post without quoting? I couldn't manage to generate a link.
Mobile layout.
View PM's as conversations.
Add a sort feature of "mentioned" (called "you") like Tapatalk has. Not just unread replies, which aren't really replying to you.

From a very quick glance it doesn't look very ideal. It might be able to be used for what we want, but it doesn't seem to be what it's designed for and will probably be pretty convoluted.

You can do that by clicking the subject above the post you want to reference. Then copy your browser's URL. (I usually test it first)
