Which of the following would be our best approach in your opinion?

Move the entire forums over to another platform
Leave DDF functionality & platform as is, but refresh the design

Can we get some more votes for Leave DDF as is besides for product deals etc please? I don't want to get my Russian friends involved in the poll numbers.
Do you really think it makes sense to split it up like that?

Yes.  My preferred split would be Deals - CC/Airlines Discussions - JS/GD. And that I can choose to only see 1 or 2 of them.
I'm not who you think I am.

Which of these do you think is better for the general public?

Most amazon deals posted in the forums get few views almost no replies and are only visible to those actually going to the forum and looking for them.

If you anyways are changing the whole layout can we please add a responsive theme for the time being. I've posted it before in site suggestions (that theme was sunrise)

Personally all I think it needs is the like mod to be manually installed.

+1 I'm not sure if this is what you meant but I feel like if we take out any section of the forums the forums would die.

2a) options to search Just thread titles or all posts.
You can do that already if you click the Search button towards the top left

Forums are for conversations, not shopping. What's the point in 100's of amazon deal posts a month with an average of under 100 views each and 0 replies?

I think the strength of the forums are the members ENGAGING with each other, helping each out, discussing travel tips, politics, news, finance, Jewish life etc...

Don't you think it makes more sense to have a nice landing page on DDMS with a grid of all deals that you can filter & sort, vote up, comment, thank the poster, report dead etc...

Agreed 100% I'm totally for a new look, but I think slowly migrating everything is important, why not have everything user friendly?

Updating the look and having more sort options, are going to vastly improve the usefulness and views of the deals

I don't see DDMS that way. IMO, the value of DDMS is selected deals sent out to the public, with a personal blog-like touch. Many of the deals have some personal commentary you wouldn't get from user-posted deals. You also have the CC sign up deals and analysis, as well as the personal experience and public interest posts. I think that by changing the format of the deals, it becomes a completely different site, more similar to SD.

Within the forums themselves, I see a value in making the deals page more similar to what you're suggesting. It should generate more traffic without changing the DDMS, and upvoting may help Admin get eyes on good deals quicker, plus additional insight into which deals are valued by readership.
Failing at maintaining Lurker status.

Don't forget though that we need the ability to take a specific deal and turn it into a discussion (either on the deal's page, or somehow link a forum thread to it)

The way I am imagining it:
User submits a deal on DDMS, it gets published on a landing page like dansdeals.com/community-deals, if it gets enough traction (likes, comments, views, upvotes) or if chosen by Dan/JJ - it gets pushed to the homepage. Only frontpage deals would trigger a push notification etc.

Think of it as a reddit for deals. It removes clutter from the forums, makes Dan/JJs job much easier, but most importantly; it makes it super easy and comfortable for regular site visitors to find deals they are interested in. Again, this would be for Amazon/Walmart/Ebay deals only. Other deals stay as is

Sounds great, yet again why not have it that easy and comfortable for the whole forum?

As someone who often visits the Unread Posts and New Replies page, which show all boards mixed together, I can see a lot of value in separating the deal posts and the discussion posts.

While we're at it, why don't we build a system that tracks Amazon and automatically posts deals that drop a certain percentage? (I'm 92 percent joking, 8 percent serious)

Users could submit items to track and have a post created automatically. Something like CamelCamelCamel or Keepa

Agreed, that can be easily done. (Even on this platform it should be possible)

I also think we could improve the search system so you don't get issued an arrest warrant if you mistakenly make a second search with 5 seconds of your first.

Same with submitting two posts within 5 seconds. You can be working on 2 posts in 2 tabs...

Do many people have https://postimg.cc/ blocked?
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!
