Remove sign up fee
« on: June 07, 2008, 11:53:25 PM »
Hey all,
This may have been discussed, but I can't find it.
I want to sign up for the Chase Continental card again, canceled the old one a month ago. Now they don't have first year free though.
Can I sign up, and cancel after getting the bonus and get a pro-rated amount back?
Thanks

Chase doesn't prorate.

Getting your annual fee back after paying it to get the bonus is definitely YMMV.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Has it been fully determined whether or not the Chase Continental card is churnable?
If so, which one is better to churn, the business or consumer version?

Like Dan said YMMV but even if you pay the annual fee, $85 for 21,000 miles is a pretty good deal

I know it's a good deal. But $85 for 0 miles is not. So the question still remains if it's churnable.

When I canceled it the first time, they offered me immediately to sign up again for a 15k bonus, but I thought I could get more so I declined.
I canceled after the 85 charge had been posted, I had waited too long, and they removed the entire thing.

What do you mean they removed the entire thing? Why didn't you just apply again for the 20,000?

They removed the fee, but that was a card that had the first year free.
I don't know if they'll have the same approach to cards w/ no free year
