We once made a quick stop in Harper's Ferry. It's supposed to have amazing white-water rafting. But I think there's a good reason why there's no WV MT.

Because those who go want to keep it the way it is...quiet and out of the way

Blackwater falls state park, Seneca rocks, spruce knob, Cass scenic railroad, radio astronomy observatory, exhibition coal mines, and the hotel/presidential bunker in white sulfur springs off the top of my head

I believe snowshoe is in in Eastern WV? So it's not that far from attractions in VA. Just be careful driving those roads are night...

New River gorge is cool. I haven't done any real hikes there, though

So true. There's just something charming about those empty backcountry roads.  The short slow nature of this thread sums it up nicely.

Would love to hear more about Harper's Ferry. Anyone been? A/t interesting to do there?
Some interesting historical hikes, a very long biking trail, the first billboard in the US, rafting (good experience with River Riders)

It's on the border of VA, WV and MD so keep that in mind when researching the area.

Yes I did.  I would love to write up a whole trip report when I have time but for now: It was great. Really loved it. we stayed on Snowshoe Mountain.  It is very very quiet there during the summer.  You need to do a lot of driving for everything because it is very remote but it was fun drives on windy roads up and down mountains and valleys. There are tons of outdoor stuff to do like hiking, biking, waterfalls, kayaking etc... We were there for 10 days and spent a total of $68 on activities.
