East Coast Covid Roadtrip
« on: July 07, 2020, 12:05:00 PM »
I'm looking for any suggestions for an approximately 2 week long roadtrip for a few teenagers that avoids Covid hotspots.
I dont mind settling for a few days at a time in one location if there are activities in the area.
Thanks

You probably could've worded the title here a little bit better...

I don't know what's open.
Maine has many beautiful national parks for hiking.  ( Chabad houses in Bangor and Portland usually have shabbos meals, but IDK if they do now.)
New Hampshire has quite a few things usually, many of which are probably closed, but it also has some hikes and beautiful nature.  Also has a Jewish summer community centered in Bethlehem - usually.  Likely something will still be open.

Actually, all of the attractions in NH that I've checked on are now reopened, albeit some with reduced capacity and only by pre-booking a specific time slot. I'm sure some indoor places are still closed, but I've seen several that have reopened. The summer minyan situation in Lincoln may be different than in normal years, however.

FYI Maine and Vermont are requiring some sort of quarantine/negative corona test depending on where you are coming from

Nah. Doesn't get any better than this.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

Sorry I wasn't clearer. Re the title "Covid times".
And regarding the east coast, as most southern states are considered hotspots I guess that leaves the northeast?!

Don't waste time looking for points hotels to explore Acadia. The only large chain hotel in Bar Harbor is a Holiday Inn IIRC. You could stay at points hotels near BGR airport, but that puts you over an hour each way from Acadia.
