Mondays have been the low point in FL's weekly counts lately, with number rising through the following weekend. FL announced 12,636 new cases today, so here's to hoping that trend doesn't hold true this week.

Based on the number of tests coming back vs the number being administered, it seems possible that the labs are starting to clear their backlogs, which may be causing the numbers to be inflated. 7 day rolling averages usually even out discrepancies, but I don't know enough about the backlog and test results being released now to have any idea how it skews the numbers. As always, hospitalizations are the metric to watch.

If anyone finds any info on the discrepancy between tests administered and results being published over the last week, please post.

No worries. And you can disagree with my opinion but anything about numbers/Cuomo saying things was all from multiple reliable sources. Not some hole in the wall website.

Not quite as dire as they make it seem at my hospital. We have converted multiple floors to COVID units. The ERs have been mini COVID ICUs for 6 weeks already. We have bed capacity for now and haven’t used auditoriums or anything like that yet. We have adequate PPE for at least 2+ months and plenty of ventilators for now. We have not cancelled elective outpatient surgeries yet as this generally does not effect the inpatient hospital needs as long as we don’t have a PPE shortage and don’t need the OR manpower (which we are ok with so far). Granted, we are the largest hospital in South Florida so that may not be the reality at smaller hospitals.

For what it’s worth we have had a 20% increase in COVID patients in hospital over past 3 days... so that’s no so good :/

Definitely infinitely better prepared than NY hospitals were at this point in their pandemic.
